How to deal with Naughty Children

Punishing a child, particularly of an older age can be very difficult. Have all the methods you've previously tried to use to punish them failed? If so, Why not try reading this guide to get ideas of how to punish your child effectively.

Steps

 1. Try a 'Thinking Corner'. This method should be used mainly when they cry or snivel when they do not get what they want, or do not listen to you. It is a corner of the house, and when your child behaves negatively make them sit/stand there. It should be in a boring place of the house to make the child dislike being made to go there. Some families have a 'Thinking step' instead, which is a step on the stairs where your child can sit and think about what they've done. When you or the other parent of your child, or even a visitor tells you, that they have seen your child behaving inappropriately they will be sent to the thinking corner. Tell them to go to the thinking corner, or if you are doing it for the first time take them by the hand and walk them to the thinking corner. How long should they spend sitting in the thinking corner: One minute for each year of their age.Only use the thinking corner method for children under 8 years old. Talk. Talk to them afterward and tell them why what they did was wrong. Take away something they enjoy. Put up a poster for your child with their name on (e.g. Ryan) and the things they like (e.g. Watching TV, Playing Football, Playing on the computer, X-box, Plays tation, Nintendo DS, Mobile Phone, Laptop and Action Men figures). At the start of the day their chart is empty and each time they behave positively they get an activity added by them and each time they behave negatively they get an activity randomly taken away by you.

2. If none of these work, spank them. Only use your hand. For children 3 to 6 follow these steps: Tell them that they are going to get a spanking. Instruct them to go to their room and sit on their bed and think about what they have done for several minutes. If they refuse to go to their room physically carry them in and set them on their bed. After several minutes go in and lay them on their bed on their back. Raise their legs in the diaper position, but leave up pants and underwear. Spank their bottom 1-5 times. Hold the child until they stop crying. Assure them that you love them.

3. For children 7 to 9 follow these steps: Inform them that they are getting a spanking. Take the child to their bedroom. Sit down and pull the child across your lap. Pull down their pants and underwear. Spank their bottom 5-15 times. It is preferable that the child has stopped squirming and is limp. Assure them that you love them.

4. For children 10 to 12 and teenagers, follow these steps: Inform them that they are getting a spanking. Send the child to their bedroom. Tell the child to lie on their bed. Put some pillows under the child to prop up their bottom. Pull down their pants but leave up their boxer shorts or panties. Spank their bottom 15-20 times. It is preferable that the child has stopped squirming and is limp. Assure them that you love them.

  1. I agree with spanking small children (2-6) in the diaper position because it allows for eye contact during the spanking. But I do undress them, including diapers or underwear, otherwise the spanking is ineffective. First time is with my hand, and subsequent spankings are with a ping pong paddle.
