Make Your Internet Faster

How to make your internet connection

faster and more reliable

The internet is a vital part of our lives. Just like your car, body, and robot underlings, your internet connection can be fine-tuned and made to work more efficiently. With just a little bit of effort, your surfing experience can be noticeably improved.

1. DNS

The quickest and easiest way to improve your internet surfing is to change your Domain Name System(DNS) service to Open DNS. Not only are you very likely to see faster DNS resolution than your ISP’s DNS service, but it comes with a whole host of features. Anti-phishing, usage reports, and parental controls are built right in, and it’s as simple as changing a few numbers in your router or computer’s settings.
If there is a specific server or two that is always slowing down your page loads, you can simply keep your computer from reaching them by editing your hosts file. Hosts is a simple text file that can override your DNS service’s resolution to specific IP addresses. If you’re tired of an ad server or third-party service like Twitter wasting your resources, just set their domains to hit your localhost (127.0.0.1). Now when your favourite website tries to load that Twitter frame, it will appear as if that server is offline.

2. SPEEDING UP DSL
If you’re a DSL user, you might have heard about interleaving and FastPath. Interleaving is an error correction mechanism that makes sure you get all of your packets in an uncorrupted form. If your connection is bad, it can make a big difference when left on. However, people with good DSL connections might want to consider asking their ISP to turn this setting off, thus enabling FastPath. For example, you might want it off if you’re a big gamer because it can lower your ping time, and it’s not vitally important that every packet is received properly. The pros and cons vary heavily depending on your situation, so don’t assume turning it off will make your connection better.
DSL users may also have the option of changing their profile to more aggressive settings. If you are close to the local telephone exchange, there is less line noise, and thus higher connection speeds are possible if your ISP and router are correctly configured. To change your line profile you will generally need to contact your ISP (and you may need to speak to an engineer, rather than a customer service rep).
3. Command Prompt
Steps How to do :

 1. ) Press "Windows Key" and go to "Search Box".
2. ) Type "CMD" or "Command Prompt" dont Run.
3. ) Right Click "CMD" or "Command Prompt" and "Run it as Administrator".
4. ) Type "CD/" Without Quotation mark and Press "Enter".
5. ) Type "netsh int tcp show global" Without Quotation mark and Press "Enter".
6. ) Type "netsh int tcp set global chimney=enabled" Without Quotation mark and Press "Enter".
7. ) Type "netsh int tcp set global autotuninglevel=normal" Without Quotation mark and Press "Enter".
8. ) Type "netsh int tcp set global congestionprovider=ctcp" Without Quotation mark and Press "Enter".
9. ) Your done.

Steps How to Get back Normal Configuration :

 1. ) Press "Windows Key" and go to "Search Box".
2. ) Type "CMD" or "Command Prompt" dont Run.
3. ) Right Click "CMD" or "Command Prompt" and "Run it as Administrator".
4. ) Type "CD/" Without Quotation mark and Press "Enter".
5. ) Type "netsh int tcp show global" Without Quotation mark and Press "Enter".
6. ) Type "netsh int tcp set global chimney=default" Without Quotation mark and Press "Enter".
7. ) Type "netsh int tcp set global congestionprovider=none" Without Quotation mark and Press "Enter".
8. ) You're done. 4.

4. Using Registry Editior

Press window + R key to open the Run Command, type regedit and click OK.

    Go to the following path:-

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion

Right Click on the right pane and select New -> DWORD Value

Name this new registry entry “MaxConnectionsPerServer” and press Enter. Then double click on it and set Value Data to 8, and click on OK.

Close the editor and restart your system.

5. Remove the reserved bandwidth for the system

Bandwidth is the amount of data that you are allowed to download/upload at any given time. I am not going to discuss the technical part but just for the general concept one should note that in a computer system there is a QoS (Quality of Service) Packet Scheduler which controls the percentage of connection bandwidth that the system can reserve. Internet Service Providers (ISPs) promise to provide you a certain speed, but sometimes you do not receive that speed on your device, there are lot of reasons which may cause slow internet speed and one of those reasons bandwidth reservation is most common. By default, your computer system may reserve up to 20 percent of the network bandwidth for QoS traffic handled by the QoS Packet Scheduler to improve the performance of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) applications, video conferencing and Internet Protocol (IP) telephony and windows updates etc. Therefore, you may follow the following steps to set the bandwidth limit to 0 (zero) for speed up your browsing and downloading files:

 Step-1:
Press the Windows logo key ⊞ Win + R to open the Run command window.
 Step-2:
Now, type gpedit.msc and press Enter or click on OK button to open the local group policy editor window.
 Step-3:
On the left side column under computer configuration select/ click on Administrative templates and on the right side column double click on Network > QoS Packet Scheduler > Limit reservable bandwidth.
 Step-4:
In the open window, select Enable and reduce the bandwidth limits percentage to 0 (zero) and apply it.

6. Turn Off the Update

Yes, it’s true. There may be some applications running in the background for the latest updates even after closing your web browsers. Thus, you should turned off the update options from all your applications and softwares including windows updates. You may set the update option for manual update.

7. Speedup your Computer

To run fast, you must be healthy/ energetic and accordingly, to gear up your internet connection speed your Personal Computer (PC) and Laptops shall also be very fast and clean from any malicious softwares. Therefore, remove all unnecessary softwares which are not usable at all. Did you know? Whenever, you download any data into your computer, install and uninstall any programme on your PC, it results various registry fragments, lots of bereaved startup tasks, temp folder and files and various unused processes or services etc. Accordingly, if you will not check and remove those unnecessary stuffs as mentioned above, it harms your computer system and resulting slow down PC and crash more frequently.

8. Clear browsing Data

Sometimes, your internet connection will boost after cleaning all browsing data from internet browsers. To clear/delete the browsing data viz. browsing history, download history, cookies and other site and plug-in data, empty the cache, saved passwords, saved Auto-fill form data, data from hosted apps and de-authorise content licenses etc. press Ctrl + Shift + Delete

9. Contact your ISP

This is very simple but effective as because if you are not getting the internet speed you are paying for then contact your Internet Service Provider (ISP) to find out how much speed you should be getting. Change your plan to the next level and enjoy.
